One in 11 people seek out emergency food assistance at charitable feeding programs supplied by Daily Bread – 40% being children. Many individuals, seniors and families living in the Cass-Clay community must make the very difficult choice between paying for rent, medication, utilities or food. For others, they simply go without.

Daily Bread collects surplus perishable food and prepared meals from area grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, schools, colleges and hospitals, and then distributes it to emergency shelters, food pantries and soup kitchens serving the hungry and homeless.

The need for food recovered and distributed by Daily Bread has increased steadily over the years. In 2010 alone, Daily Bread recovered and distributed food for 1.4 million meals. Without Daily Bread, most of this nutritious and wholesome food would go to waste. Instead, it is used to help feed an estimated 17,100 estimated individuals annually.

Daily Bread can provide food for 10 meals for every charitable dollar raised at the Chefs’ Gala & Auction.
