FARGO – Janell Regimbal, Senior Vice President of Children and Family Services at Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota, will testify on childhood violence before the US Attorney General’s National Task Force on Children Exposed to Violence on Jan. 31 in Albuquerque, NM.
Regimbal was invited to testify as an expert in the field of children’s exposure to violence and a representative of Safer Tomorrows, the Grand Forks collaborative recently funded by the US Department of Justice as one of four demonstration sites nationwide to receive $2 million over the next two years to address the needs of children exposed to violence. A total of 31 organizations in Grand Forks County are partners in the Safer Tomorrows collaborative, which is spearheaded by the City of Grand Forks, Grand Forks Public Schools, Community Violence Intervention Center and Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota.
The National Task Force expects to issue its findings and comprehensive policy recommendations this fall in a report that will serve as a blueprint for preventing and reducing the negative effects of children’s exposure to violence across the United States.
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is a nonprofit social services agency serving thousands of North Dakotans from offices in five cities with 19 programs that strengthen individuals, families and communities without regard to clients’ race, religion, gender or economic status.
