Here’s to the good people of Bowbells, N.D., for pulling together to ensure the residents in the community’s affordable housing have a comfortable environment they can be proud of.
LSSND recently sought a grant to replace all of the windows in the city’s Coteau d Moraine apartments. A $30,000 grant was approved through work with Souris Basin Planning Council, the agency that manages the Community Development Block Grant program in the Minot/Bowbells area.
As a condition of the grant, LSS needed to raise a $5,000 match. Thanks to the generosity of the Bowbells community, we not only met the match, but exceeded it! The total raised was more than $12,000.
The money allowed building managers to install new toilets in four of the units and make other plumbing repairs, install new carpet in two of the units and cover other miscellaneous costs.
Bowbells Insurance Agency, CHS SunPrairie, United Methodist Church of Bowbells, Trinity Lutheran of Kenmare, Farmers Union Insurance of Kenmare, MDU, Farmers Union Oil of Kenmare/Bowbells, Bethlehem Lutheran of Bowbells, Nextera Energy, Ackerman Estvold Engineering of Minot as well as our miscellaneous private donors.
And those windows? They’ve been ordered and installation plans have been made. Due to this group effort, residents of Coteau d Moraine should stay nice and cozy when the snow flies, and their hearts will be warmed knowing that they live in a community that cares for its neighbors!
Great work all around, everyone!
It reminds us of these words ...
