The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is a partnership between residential postal customers, the National Association of Letter Carriers and the Great Plains Food Bank. Letter carriers collect food donations from residents in the Cass-Clay communities. These donations are then weighed and distributed to three hunger-relief organizations including the GPFB. The drive was a huge success story last year, with over 54,000 pounds of food collected in a single day. 1 in 11 individuals seek emergency food assistance each year – 40% are children. You can help us Stamp Out Hunger! Be watching for the Stamp Out Hunger grocery bag in your mail box the week of May 3, 2010. Fill the bag and place by your mailbox on Saturday, May 8th . If you’ll be out of town on the 8th, leave your filled bag for your postal carrier any day that week before or after.
