Available Resources & Support

There are times when we all need a little extra help. Here are some programs available in North Dakota to assist renters, parents, and those who need to stretch their resources a little farther.

Fuel Assistance
Lower-income tenants often qualify for fuel assistance during the fall and winter months. Contact your County Social Services to see if you qualify for fuel assistance funding.

Food Assistance
Did you know that Lutheran Social Services runs the Great Plains Food Bank, supplying more than 300 pantries in North Dakota? In these hard economic times, please make sure you join your neighbors in taking full advantage of food assistance that is available to you.

Find out how to pick up a bag of groceries at your local food pantry or register for a SNAP card (formerly food stamps) – now confidential and used just like a debit card in any grocery store, to meet those end of the month food shortages. Call (701) 271-3207 and ask to be referred to the Great Plains Food Bank.

Parenting Tips and Education
We all need guidance when it comes to being the most successful mothers and fathers we can be. Our experts can offer classes at your apartment site for you and your neighbors, or you may qualify for in-home counseling and training programs such as Lutheran Social Services Healthy Families . Call (701) 271-3207 to describe your interest. We may be able to refer you to a no-cost program.

Find Child Care
Child Care Resource & Referral helps families connect to child care. You can use the CCR&R child care database to search for child care online or receive personalized, one-on-one assistance by contacting a CCR&R Referral Specialist

Connect with a Senior Companion
Lutheran Social Services Senior Companions is a free service across North Dakota. Companions come to a senior's home and provide companionship and assistance based on the need of the senior.
