Shirley Dykshoorn named Lutheran Disaster Response director at Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota


FARGO – Shirley Dykshoorn has been named director of the Lutheran Disaster Response program at Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota effective Jan. 3, 2012.

As director, Dykshoorn will develop and direct disaster response and recovery services statewide and build and maintain collaborative relationships with other local, state and national disaster service providers.

Dykshoorn was most recently executive director of Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, Moorhead, MN, and prior to that was lead director for Fannie Mae Business Centers in North Dakota, project director for the Tri-State Rural Collaboration Project and state supervisor of volunteer services for the North Dakota Department of Human Services.

Dykshoorn holds a master of public administration degree from the University of North Dakota and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Jamestown (ND) College.

Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is a nonprofit social services agency serving North Dakotans from offices in five cities with 19 programs that strengthen individuals, families and communities without regard to clients’ race, religion, gender or economic status.

Lutheran Disaster Response is a program of Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota that provides help statewide before and after a disaster through preparedness training, recovery response, rebuilding and coordinating volunteers.
