Gilleshammer Apartments welcome new property management team

GRAFTON - Eighty units of rental housing built and owned by Grafton resident Glenn Gilleshammer are now being managed by LSS Property Management Group, a subsidiary of Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring that North Dakotans who want to stay in rural communities have attractive options for affordable apartments.

Gilleshammer’s apartment complexes – two of which are located on Grafton’s Fernwood Avenue with a third located on 16th street – offer one, two and three-bedroom units to families with lower and moderate incomes and to senior citizens who want to maintain independent living. Both the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Department of Housing and Urban Development offer various levels of subsidy to the units to ensure that they are affordable for all households.

Units are available for rent and persons interested in rental information should call (701) 352-0001 in Grafton or the Fargo leasing line at (701) 271-3207. Rental applications are also available at the management office at 203 East 6th Street in Grafton. The office is open from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

The newly formed LSS Property Management Group team in Grafton includes three professionals with considerable experience in providing outstanding residential services:

David Stark of Grafton serves as the full-time maintenance manager for the complexes. Stark is a previous long-time employee of Lunseth Plumbing and Heating Company. He is certified as a journeyman plumber and is also highly skilled in carpentry and in management of renovation projects. He is in charge of the grounds staff for the properties and oversees all repairs, renovations and property improvements.

Carrie Lorenz worked for seven years for Sharp Management, the company which previously managed the complexes. She is expert in advising families who are seeking to qualify for rental assistance and is skilled in acting as liaison to the government entities that provide subsidies for apartments. Lorenz is now serving as LSS Property Management Group’s compliance specialist for Grafton residents and she resides in Grafton.

Rebecca Hodgson of Pisek will serve as resident services staff for the complexes, operating the management office from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hodgson will work one-on-one with households, helping them fill out rental applications, place repair orders, and connect to community and educational services. Hodgson holds an MBA with a focus on providing high quality residential services for older adults. She has worked for several youth-serving non-profits and is also a facilitator for Lutheran Social Services’ Restorative Justice program, which provides sentencing alternatives for teens who find themselves involved with the juvenile justice system.
